1) Reinstoff
The dining room of Reinstoff is dark and intimate yet still casual and laid back. The simple atmosphere leaves room for the focus to be on its avant-garde cuisine and presentation. The food is paired perfectly with German and Spanish wines, and the service is some of the best you’ll find.
2) Facil
Located on the fifth floor of The Mandala Hotel at Potsdamer Platz, Facil prepares the best gourmet food in the area. The interior design is elegant, featuring a retractable glass roof while the menu boasts highly-rated eight course meals with items including grilled octopus, Ammersee veal shank, and raspberry rhubarb dessert.
Since 1931 the Ganymed Brasserie has been offering sweeping riverside views from its terrace. It showcases brasserie-style French cuisine including perfectly cooked Muscovy duck breast, snails, oysters, mussels, and salmon. The top two recommendations? The Alsatian Flammkuchen (pizza) or anything with sauerkraut.
4) Hartmanns
Executive chef Stefan Hartmann prepares delectable French food in his restaurant. It’s off-the-beaten trail, located in an old building on a quiet tree-lined street. Select fresh dishes from their fixed three to seven course meals. Items include monkfish with artichoke, seabass, and an extensive cheese platter. Prices are reasonable and inexpensive for the high quality cuisine.
Located in one of the oldest buildings on the list, the Lutter and Wegner was founded as a wine shop in 1811. It’s impossible not to have fun here as it is dedicated to “wein, weib und gesang” or wine, woman and song. Come for the renowned wiener schnitzel or the Sauerbraten (roast beef).
6) Die Quadriga
With a modern art deco theme, Die Quadriga was named after the Quadriga of Victory statue located at the top of the Brandenburg Gate. The restaurant features seasonal dishes including Bavarian lamb in the summer and reindeer and liquorice in the winter.
Classic with a subtle mix of modernism, Fischers Fritz is the place you visit if you’re in need of perfectly prepared fish. Recommendations include the Brenton lobster with sweet bread, the cod supreme, and the sea bass.
